It is with great sadness that Shipley Associates shares the news of the passing of its Chairman, Steve Shipley. Steve’s professional contributions, unwavering ethical standards, and exemplary fairness are renowned and serve as the pillars of the business.
Shipley Associates was founded in 1972 by Steve’s cousin, Richard Shipley. Steve joined Shipley Associates in 1988 and, after Richard sold Shipley Associates to Franklin Quest, Steve along with his business partners bought the proposal and business development portion of the business from Franklin Covey and built the company into the global leader in business development consulting that it is today.
One of Steve’s many professional accomplishments while at the helm of Shipley Associates, was the establishment of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) of which he was very proud. Working with the many talented and committed professionals to help build an association for business development professionals brought great satisfaction to him.
During the past five years as Chairman of Shipley Associates, Steve oversaw the continuity of the company’s talented executive and management teams along with the expansion of the company into larger global markets. Steve’s legacy of ensuring all of Shipley Associates’ stakeholders are treated fairly with the highest ethical standards will continue to be the hallmark of Shipley Associates, and his example will be fondly remembered by those who had the privilege to know him.
