Through ShipleyOnline™ professionals seeking Shipley training can participate in certain courses at their office, home, or on-the-go using mobile technology. This instructor-led training consists of four live sessions combined with exercises based on a case study. Participants learn by doing and receive instructor feedback on each assignment. Participants learn to apply Shipley best practice tools throughout the course.
Distance learners must have a high-speed internet connection and are required to be fully engaged in interactive distance learning tools used by the facilitator. There is no need for unique or special technology to participate – only a desire and the discipline to learn – online!

How Online Learning Works
Participants register using the ShipleyOnline™ registration system on the Shipley website. You receive an immediate confirmation for the course which also serves as your receipt.
Online course registration is closed 7 days in advance of the scheduled course.
Login and sign-in credentials and instructions are sent via email a few days before the first online, live course session.
Online learning participants are expected to participate in discussions, exercises, and debriefs throughout the course, including a pre-work assignment and a final exam.
The Shipley facilitator leads the live course sessions. All materials and assignments associated with the case study are available through ShipleyOnline.
A certificate of completion is provided following successful completion of the course and assignments, and the final exam.
Online learning is a proven way to participate and learn when travel or other restrictions prevent you from participating in a Shipley classroom workshop. Much of the online learning responsibility lies with the learner – the learner must stay fully engaged to gain the value from the training experience.

Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ
How are the online courses structured?
ShipleyOnline™ offers blended courses for those unable to attend traditional live, classroom training. Online courses are NOT pre-recorded, self-paced courses. Online courses consist of four live, virtual sessions delivered via the web over a period of 2 weeks. Participants are expected to attend and be involved in all live sessions from their office, home, or another remote location. There are “assignments” or tasks to be completed between each live, virtual session based on a case study presented by the instructor.
How many “students” will be in each online course?
Open enrollment online courses are limited to 20 participants to encourage interactivity and participation during live sessions. This also allows for interactivity with the instructor between live sessions. We also encourage limiting onsite online courses (for a company) to 20 students.
Is there pre-work required for online courses?
Yes. There is generally some pre-work, including reading, completing a short assignment, and establishing login credentials on the ShipleyOnline learning platform. Instructions for login are provided approximately seven (7) days before the start of the first live, virtual session.
Can online courses be taught for my company?
Yes. ShipleyOnline instructors can facilitate online courses that are company-specific, tailored to your company’s process and approach. Call or contact Shipley to discuss this at 888.772.9467(WINS).
Who teaches the courses? Will I have access to the instructor between live sessions?
Experienced Shipley facilitators that are well-versed in sales and business development best practices are instructors for online courses. They facilitate the live, virtual sessions and provide feedback to students on assignments between live sessions. During the length of the course, they are available for discussions and messaging.
Will I receive the Shipley books and guides?
For online courses, ShipleyOnline provides access to Shipley workbooks and guidebooks in an eBook format. Hardcopy books are available at a discounted rate.
Will I be able to download and use Shipley tools during or after the course?
Yes. Using the ShipleyOnline platform, you will have immediate access to all relevant Shipley tools and templates associated with the course. These can easily be downloaded, saved, and used on future projects. Please abide by Shipley’s copyright restrictions.
What are the technical (computer and audio) requirements from my end?
You will need DSL or other high speed internet capability. We recommend the use of a landline for audio; however cell or VOIP audio works as well. Students are muted during the live, virtual session and participate through polls and asking questions or making comments through the “chat” function. ShipleyOnline will have a “class monitor” available for technical support during each live session.
Can I make up any live sessions I have to miss?
We discourage absence from any of the live, virtual sessions during an online course. However, if work or personal demands prohibit your attendance, you can discuss this with the instructor to determine a course of action to “make up” the missed session. In some cases, live sessions will be recorded for short-term playback.
Are the online courses identical to the workshops taught by Shipley onsite (at my company or as a public workshop)?
Some online courses are only offered via ShipleyOnline. For example, POWeRful Proposal Writing is available only online. Our traditional courses in government business development or sales communication can also be delivered using our virtual ShipleyOnline platform but will continue to be available through tailored classroom training. We work closely with companies to tailor our existing courses to meet their needs and accommodate their learning environment.
Can I get a refund if I can’t attend?
If you register, pay, and need to cancel prior to 14 days in advance of the course, there will be a $75 cancellation fee. Cancellations within a 14-day period will be charged a $400 cancellation fee. However, we will transfer your registration to a future online course with no additional fee.
What if I can’t access ShipleyOnline™ from my location?
Technical support is available for ShipleyOnline students at email@example.com. All students are encouraged to login to ShipleyOnline well in advance of the first live session to test access and functionality. If you pay for the course and technology prohibits your participation (this is extremely rare) we will provide a full refund or apply your fee toward a classroom public workshop.
Will I receive a certificate of completion after the course?
Yes. If you attend each live, virtual session, complete assignments, and pass the final exam, you will receive a certificate of completion for your online course. This becomes documentation for any professional continuing education credit you may seek.
Will refresher courses be offered?
There is no plan for live, virtual refresher courses at this time. However, many topics covered in online courses are also covered at a review or introductory level through our self-paced training. These serve as excellent refreshers to main topics of interest covered during online learning or classroom workshops.
Will I be tested on the material covered in the online courses?
Yes. There is an exam at the end of each online course. A 70 percent score is necessary for full completion. You may take the exam more than once.
Do these courses count toward ShipleyUniversity® certification (core course requirement)?
Yes. Online courses count toward ShipleyUniversity certification. Each 2-day equivalent online course (including assignments between live sessions) counts as two learning units toward Shipley University certification.
Do these courses count toward APMP Certification CEUs? How many CEUS per course?
Yes. ShipleyOnline courses count for 10 CEUs for APMP certification.
Do these courses count toward PDUs from Project Management Institute (PMI)?
PMI determines what courses are acceptable for PDUs within the project management certification program. Historically, Shipley training has been accepted as PDU eligible. However, it is up to you to submit your information for PDU credit from PMI.
