FAQs
Would it be helpful to look at the Shipley Capture Guide before starting the process? - Yes, some candidates have found it helpful even if they have already taken Capture training.
Do I have to complete Professional certification first, before Expert? - Not at all, choose the route that fits your current experience.
I’m considering the Expert Level but the Capture Plan I have in mind contains some sensitive information, what should I do? – Please redact the sensitive parts of the Capture Plan before sending to Shipley.
I am an APMP Professional, does that shorten the process? – Yes it does, look at the Shipley Capture Management Certification Program Overview and Competency Framework for details.
Where will my assessor be located? - Your assessor will be allocated in your region wherever possible.
I’m considering Expert – is the competency based interview face to face? Not usually, unless that is convenient for both the assessor and the candidate – it will usually be held over the phone.
I’m considering the Professional Level - how long will it take me to complete the Capture Management Assessment Questionnaire? – Allow yourself around 8 hours.
I’m considering the Expert Level - how long will it take me to prepare for the competency based interview? – Allow yourself around 4 – 6 hours. Preparation is key.
I’m considering the Expert Level - what are the possible outcomes? – You may pass or be deferred. If you are deferred then you will be given reasons why in writing. You must then wait 6 months before you can re-apply and a 50% re-application fee will apply.
I’m considering the Expert Level – how long does it take? – That largely depends on how quickly you can get the requested information to Shipley. Typically, we would expect it to take around 8 weeks from registration to the point at which your competency based interview has been arranged. How long it takes after that is driven by the availability of you and your Assessor for the interview.
I’m considering the Professional Level - what are the possible outcomes? – You may pass or be deferred. If you are deferred then you will be notified by your Assessor of the areas that need to be improved. You will be asked to update your CMAQ and your Assessor will give you guidance on the specific competencies and activities that require more information. There is a six month time limit for providing the additional information. As long as the information is provided to your Assessor within the 6 month period there will be no charge for re-submitting your CMAQ.
Do I have a right of appeal if I am deferred? Yes, via the Chief Examiner.
